 Tuesday, March 21, 2023

Fernando López Miras, the president of the regional government, on Monday, inaugurated the XIX International Congress of Religious and Sustainable Tourism in Murcia. For religious tourism, this allows the region to “become until next Wednesday the world capital, with Caravaca de la Cruz as banner “, as per the statement of the sources from the Murcian Executive. For the meeting, it’s the ninth edition that takes place after collecting the baton or, in this case, the ‘pilgrim staff’, in Guadalajara de Buga last October.

During the act, the president expressed about the vocation of the Community for being a global reference and religious tourism’s liked destination. He congratulated the organizers for this reason, for selecting the Region as very important, in which experts worldwide give presentations and round tables on the disputes of this sector, as taking part in organized visits to places like Caravaca de la Cruz or Mula itself.

López Miras, during his speech, remembered that “within this very important area of tourism, the Community is by now invested fully in the Jubilee Year 2024 of Caravaca de la Cruz. Therefore, he appreciated that all the administrations are working jointly to increase the visitor numbers that they recorded in the previous Jubilee Year, 2017, and reach one million pilgrims.
