The Caribbean island of St Kitts and Nevis is all geared up to reopen the cruise tourism with the arrival of the Seabourn Odyssey, which would make a port call every week from now to October 2021.
A symbolic ship-to-ship salute, live steel pan performances heralded the Odyssey, her passengers and crew members as it docked at South Friars Bay.
On the resumption of cruise tourism, the Prime Minister of SKN asserted, “This is a wonderful day for people of St. Kitts and Nevis as we warmly welcome the luxurious Seabourn Odyssey to our shores.”
He further added that “Tourism is one of the main drivers of the economy, and therefore our plan is to reopen the destination for tourism and travel responsibly. We have implemented a phased approach to rebuilding the cruise sector intended at strengthening our local economy and providing our -visitors with a safe and positive on-island experience.”
The Minister of Tourism F.P. Grant further noted that the government is pleased to welcome the Seabourn Odyssey to St. Kitts and Nevisfor the highly-anticipated restart of the country’s cruise tourism sector.”
Forthcoming visits in August would include the Celebrity Summit, the Celebrity Equinox, the Allure of the Seas and the Symphony of the seas.
As per the COVID-19 protocols of the Caribbean island, all the crew members and all passengers over the age of 18 must be vaccinated against the deadly mutant, and all passengers, crew and children under the age of 18 must present a negative RT-PCR test within 72 hours of homeport embarkation.
In addition, the only bubble vaccinated trips and attractions would be offered to cruise passengers.
The passengers and crew are not allowed to interact with the common population. All Tours would leave the dispatch area within the secure perimeter and return.
