Carton House, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, has been officially recognized as a five-star hotel by Fáilte Ireland. This classification signifies that the property meets the highest standards of quality attainable as part of Fáilte Ireland’s Hotel Classification Scheme.
The classification follows the unveiling of an extensive two-year, multi-million euro renovation which was completed in the summer, bringing Carton House, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, back to the heights of its great house splendor.
“We are delighted to have achieved this milestone by meeting the high standards of quality required to fulfil Fáilte Ireland’s criteria for five-star classification,” said Martin Mangan, General Manager of Carton House, A Fairmont Managed Hotel.
“Our wonderful team deserve this recognition and it could not have been achieved without the support and vision of our owners who together with our operator, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, have delivered a truly wonderful resort. We very much look forward to welcoming many regular and first time guests to help celebrate our new status.”
Carton House is of Ireland’s most historic country houses and was built over 300 years ago as the home of the influential and aristocratic FitzGerald family. The property is now proudly owned by the American-Irish Mullen family, and in 2021 became a Fairmont Managed Hotel, joining over 80 Fairmont hotels around the globe as the oldest property in a collection famed for its grande dame hotels such as The Savoy, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, in London and The Plaza, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, in New York City.
