Cayman Islands Tourism Minister, Kenneth Bryan hosted an introductory meeting with members of the Cayman Islands Tourism Association’s (CITA) Executive Committee, for addressing issues that are impacting Cayman’s tourism industry due to the pandemic.
The meeting was an opportunity for discussing the work undertaken by the CITA membership for safely reopening Cayman Islands borders.
With Deputy Premier, Christopher Saunders and Minister for Health and Wellness Sabrina Turner in attendance, CITA President Marc Langevin provided a brief outline of the organization and its membership, which represents various sectors within the tourism industry, including Hotels, Restaurants, Transportation, Watersports, Condominiums and Villas and Land-Based attractions.
Langevin stressed CITA’s eagerness to work together with the government regarding establishing safe reopening strategy. Discussions were held on planning and logistical elements required for supporting the Islands’ safe reopening goals.
Mr. Langevin said, “Tourism was the first industry to be affected by the pandemic and it will take time and a team effort to bring about its recovery. CITA therefore looks forward to working with the Minister for Tourism and the PACT government in addressing the challenges and rebuilding our tourism industry in a strong and sustainable way.”
