Cebu needs more activities related to adventure tourism, says Durano

Former tourism Secretary Joseph “Ace” Durano recently explained that now Cebu needs new tourism activities as the province has reopened to foreign tourists.

“We need to go beyond what we usually offer tourists because some of them are looking for adventure,” he said in a statement.

Durano, the Partido Pilipino sa Pagbabago-Bakud gubernatorial candidate, stated that if he wins in the upcoming May elections, he would then urge the government for the creation of additional adventure tourism activities here. He himself tried rock climbing in Barangay Cantabaco in Toledo City on Sunday, March 27, and found it quite challenging.

He said that even though rock climbing was very “exhilarating,” he would always recommend this to the other adventure lovers anytime.

“We have a lot of adventure tourism sites for rock climbing or caves that we can develop,” he said.

“This is the type of of tourism activity that we should really develop here in Cebu,” he added.

Durano said tourists would no longer just come here to just relax and enjoy the white sand beaches in Cebu. At present, many come to Cebu to explore the adventure tourism destinations here.
