Foreign and local tourists are now returning to Cebu as the country eases COVID-19 restrictions.

Known as the Queen City of the South, Cebu boasts of its pristine beaches, diving sites, pilgrimage areas, outdoors, technology and infrastructure.

The recently constructed big-ticket infra project in the province under Build, Build, Build program is the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX), a vital bridge linking Cebu City and Mactan Island where Lapu-Lapu City, which hosts the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), is situated.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) Central Visayas said that it is now ready for the influx of students from Japan, South Korea and other countries.

Cebu is now attracting Japanese to stay in the province to learn English. DOT Regional Director Shalimar Tamano said some 50 Japanese students arrived in Cebu last June 4.

The Japanese picked Cebu to attend English as Second Language (ESL) because they can learn and at the same time enjoy tourist spots.

A group of mediamen from Pampanga had a chance to visit Cebu from June 3 to 6.

The familiarization tour was organized by Cebu Pacific, Selrahco, and DOT Central Visayas. The Kapampangan newsmen had a chance to enjoy the Cebu Highland Tour facilitated by DOT-Central Visayas.

Among the upland destinations are Buwakan ni Alejandra, Adlawon Vacation Farm and others.

The group also visited some of the hotels in Cebu including Nustar Resort and Casino, Bai Hotel, Summit Galleria, Crimson Resort and Spa, among others.

During the second day of the familiarization tour, the Pampanga-based journalists met the Raquel Choa also known as the Philippines Chocolate Queen.

Choa shows the group how to prepare tablea and sikwate from cocoa nibs at The Chocolate Chamber situated inside the Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
