Central University of Kashmir is going to organise a 2-day International Conference on “Recovery Marketing Strategies for Tourist Destinations in Conflict Situations” at Central Institute of Buddhist Studies, Leh Ladakh on September 8 and 9, 2017.
This meeting is held to encourage the scholars, academicians and industrialists to ponder and write about the relationship of “Conflict and Tourism” and come up with research papers, case studies, suggestions in order to improve the tourism activities of the popular destinations in Jammu and Kashmir.
Indian Tourism and Hospitality Congress (ITHC) and Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (CIBS) are the collaborating partners for the conference.
According to the organisers, “Recovery Marketing Strategies for Tourist Destinations in Conflict Situations” is an appropriate theme, which covers areas concerning Marketing, Sustainability, Media, Conflict, Peace, Crisis Management, Strategic and Human Resource related issues of Tourism in Destinations marred with Conflict.
This conference by Central University of Kashmir aims to discuss the nuance of the relationship between “Conflict and Tourism” and how the future of tourism in Jammu and Kashmir can be safeguarded in places marred with conflict, with special reference to Kashmir which has been witnessing turmoil related issues from the past two decades.
This meeting also aims in discussing the various possible strategies to re-model, re-brand Kashmir as a tourist destination in order to bring it back on the map of the best tourist destinations in South-Asia.
The current conference plans to proceed as a host for such studies, thereby help in giving direction to the future tourism in the region.
The organising committee of Central University of Kashmir will host the conference with the Vice-Chancellor CUK, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir (Chief Patron), Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar (Patron), Dean School of Business Studies and Head of the Department Tourism Studies, Prof. S Fayyaz Ahmad (Conference Director) and Assistant Professor, Department of Tourism Studies and Mr. Faizan Ashraf Mir (Organising Secretary).
