Nature tourism, adventure tourism, heritage tourism and wine tourism are the specialties that will feature in Chile’s exhibition at the 53rd ITB International Fair Berlin 2019, from March 6 through 10.

The sub-secretary of Tourism in Chile, Monica Zalaquett, said that this event is one of the largest business platforms in the world, and as a result, it plays an important role to promote the benefits of the Chilean tourism industry, specifically to attract more German visitors, which numbered 80,394 in 2018.

At the fair, Chile will have a stand of 184 square meters. Regarding Chile’s participation at the ITB Berlin, the national director of Sernatur, Andrea Wolleter, stressed that it is a great opportunity to open up to the international market, with a high impact on the country’s tourist offer.

The Chilean representation includes nine hotels, 12 tour operators, a travel agency and seven products associated with transportation like cruises and ferries, which will uphold Chile’s image with new attractions like the Route of the Parks of Patagonia.

Among other activities are wine tastings, typical dance shows and a virtual reality tour of adventure, sports and heritage destinations that made Chile the best country in the world for adventure tourism for the third consecutive year, according to the 2018 World Travel Awards.

There is also the joint promotion of the Patagonia Parks Route, a 2,800-kilometer route through 17 national parks located between Puerto Montt and Cape Horn, which integrate the Carretera Austral with the so-called End of the World Route.
