China earthquake kills 72 people, 50000 relocated

China started clearing roads after the earthquake hits. The death toll has risen to 72 people. The emergency situation declared in China continues.

The deadly 6.8 magnitude earthquake in China caused severe issues in Luding County in southwest China Sichuan Province at 12:52 p.m on Monday. The earthquake caused 65 casualties in the first two days and about 500 people were hospitalised. Earlier, in Ganze Tibetan Autonomous 37 people have been killed. About 12 people have been missing. 170 people have been hospitalised.

At Shimian County in Ya’an City, 28 people were killed and 78 people are hospitalised. Several aftershocks have been recorded in nearby areas. China has raised an earthquake emergency at Level 2.

At around 10:52 on 6th September, the Quake hits 37 people in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous prefecture. At the same time, 200 people have been trapped in the Hailuogou Scenic Spot after the earthquake. quake-stricken Hailuogou Scenic Spot, a glacier and a forest nature reserve have been severely affected.

About 50 people got injured and 16 people went missing after a magnitude-6.8 earthquake jolted Luding County in southwest China’s Sichuan Province on September 5. 29 people are from Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and 17 people from Ya’an City. The earthquake relief headquarters in Ganzi has activated its highest level of emergency level. More than 50,000 people in Ganzi and Ya’an have been temporarily relocated.

Additionally, 11000 people have been relocated from the sites. The death toll might raise in the future with a couple of more missing people.

Since the earthquake hit in the morning many people were still very underprepared for the incident. The Ministry of Emergency Management has taken all the important measures to control the situation. At SW China’s Sichuan 30 people have died. Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture has activated the highest level of emergency response after the earthquake. Several aftershocks have driven the citizen into a panicked state.
