Domestic tourist trips reached 23.77 million during the one-day holiday that fell on Wednesday, increasing 22.7 percent from a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The trips were estimated to bring in 6.52 billion yuan ($945 million) in tourist revenue, an increase of 29 percent year-on-year, said the ministry.

The number of one-day travelling product bookings increased by 5 times compared with the figure from the same period last year, and car rental orders for self-driving surged more than 10 times year-on-year, said an online travel platform.

Moreover, the bookings for travelling on April 5 grew by nearly 6 times year-on-year, with one-day trips accounting for over 50 percent, the newspaper quoted a travel portal as saying.

The single day box office broke through 192 million yuan as of 8pm on April 5, surpassing the total three-day box office of 2022 Qingming holiday, a journal reported.

More than 10 films were released in the Chinese mainland since last Friday.

The box office figure in the Qingming holiday reflects audiences’ strong demand for films, and the films released show that the industry’s focus on the market increased during this period, said the journal.

In addition, due to the film reserve being rich in April and May, the market recovery is expected to continue.
