In China, the National Day holidays have started and several tourists from the country are anticipated to visit disaster ridden Japan.
Chinese ports and airports started filling up with holidaymakers on Monday, as nationals highlighted the foundation of the People’s Republic of China.
At an airport in the southern city of Guangzhou, travelers created lines in front of check-in counters. Those who had enlisted their names for tours to Japan were seen paying attention to their guides.
This week, China’s most important online travel agency, Ctrip.com anticipates almost 7 million Chinese to travel abroad. The company explains that the statistics represents an all-time high, and that Japan is the most well-liked destination.
Ctrip.com also adds that the number of visitors traveling to Japan is constantly increasing, in spite of recent cancellations originating from the typhoon in western Japan and the earthquake in Hokkaido previous month.
It explains Chinese tourists visiting Japan for many different reasons, and their travel destinations range from urban to rural areas.
The Japan National Tourism Organization calculates that around 5.8 million foreign travelers visited the country between the months January and August this year. That shows a growth of over 18 percent from the same period last year, when the figure hit an all-time high.
