In 2022, in a survey, travelers from China said that they were most eager to visit Europe, Australia, South Korea, Japan and Canada.

However, that’s not where the Chinese travelers are going; at least not at this moment.

Flight constraints, visa problems and entry rules aimed only toward Chinese visitors are making things more problematic for Chinese residents who are all set to travel overseas.

Chinese tourists preferred Southeast Asia for tours in the course of Lunar New Year vacations, which came to an end in early February, as per Ctrip.

Travel bookings by Chinese travelers beyond the mainland increased by 640% compared to 2022’s holiday time. Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Chiang Mai, Manila, Singapore and Bali were the top choices, as per Ctrip’s information.

Hotel bookings abroad by travelers from mainland China quadrupled compared to 2022 as well, according to Ctrip. Bangkok shined, with hotel bookings over the holiday going up by more than 33 times.

Thailand is also the best pick for tour groups from China at the moment, according to Thomas Lee, the senior director of international business functions at Trip.com Group.
