As the world has slowly started reopening for travellers following more than a year of closures and restrictions, the travel and tourism industry is witnessing the emergence of new trends. One such trend in 2021 travel is the concept of workcation or working vacation.

The idea of workcation evolved from the post-pandemic work from home culture. The present-day remote working opportunities have prompted working individuals to work while they or travel while they work.

Therefore, workcations can be defined as a vacation in which travellers can work on the go. As the U.S. recently declared that it will reopen it’s borders to fully vaccinated travellers from 33 countries on November 2021, several travellers are looking forward to taking a working break in and around the country. Read on to know about some of the best workcations in the US:

Miami

Known as one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in the U.S. Miami is a city of its own kind. With strong south and central American influence, the city is recognized for its beaches and nightlife. However, it also perfectly combines work with fun. Being a large city, Miami has all the amenities needed for a perfect workcation while having ample opportunities for relaxing and sightseeing after work. Workcationers can head to one of the city’s many co-working spaces to enjoy a productive day. Meanwhile, they can also visit the beach and work amid sweeping views of crystal-clear water and beautiful white sand. A number of cafes, restaurants and beach clubs in Miami also provide work opportunities for travellers who enjoy  working in lively environments. Miami’s beaches are ideal for an afternoon swim or a morning spent paddle-boarding or relaxing after work. Travellers can also drive down towards Key West and enjoy the beautiful south of the U.S. during their day-off.

Phoenix

As a warm and welcoming city, Phoenix is a great destination for workcationers looking to get their work done while soaking in the sun. Travellers can automatically feel refreshed in the sunny city and gear up for a productive day. Working travellers in Phoenix can try Hyatt’s “Work From Hyatt ” package at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale and Royal Palms Resort & Spa, to find private work areas and speedy internet. Following a busy day at work, travellers can explore urban hiking on Camelback Mountain, McDowell Mountain Regional Park, or South Mountain Park & Preserve. They can also cruise around on the city’s bike share or plan a day trip to Saguaro National Park, home of giant saguaro cactus and ancient petroglyphs.

Honolulu

Another incredible beach destination in the U.S. to have a working holiday is Hawaii’s Capital.  Honolulu is a beautiful, multicultural city standing along the beach.  Besides being a pristine, calming and work-friendly venue, the state’s “Movers & Shakas” program attracts more working tourists to the city.  Workcationers can help Hawaii build a resilient economy and get involved in local nonprofits in exchange for roundtrip flights to Honolulu along with endless beach access. Several accommodation facilities like the rooms at The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikiki Beach have full kitchens, a work space, and washer and dryer, making extended stays a million times more comfortable. These hotels offer spacious rooms and splendid views as well as an ideal working environment. Beyond work schedules travellers can explore the Wiliwilinui Hiking Trail and Honolulu Museum of Art, among others.
