Colorado, a state in United States, located in the western part will now become the abode of the first adventure tourism graduate program in the country at Colorado State University.
Mark Gasta, Associate Professor and Program Director said that Colorado is the best place for adventure. Colorado is the place of natural beauty offering the adventure tourism like hiking, trekking and other adventure tourism attractions.
The students can enroll in the new adventure tourism program of Colorado State University to earn a graduate certificate in the business behind adventure tourism.
The classes focus on topics such as safety and guest services, policy and planning including permitting, marketing concepts and applications.
Mark Gasta said that they are focusing less on the hardcore technical skills. These people already have those skills. They are focusing more on the operations of running these enterprises.
The online courses of the graduation programme of Colorado State University will start next semester, will feature discussion groups, presentations and multimedia content, including video interviews and discussions with experts within the outdoor recreation industry.
This adventure tourism programme is designed to educate the skills needed to develop and manage different adventure tourism offerings like from motorcycle and rafting trips to heli-skiing and fishing trips.
The adventure tourism industry also could include travel writing and manufacturing of specific equipment. The adventure and outdoor recreation industry is diverse and, according to information from Colorado State University, tallies $887 billion in spending each year and supports 7.6 million jobs.
Luis Benitez, director of the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office, said that the leaders of this economy will require having a cavernous understanding of the natural resources of Colorado and how to mix the gears of innovation, health and wellness into a vision for what comes next that will develop the adventure tourism.
