In the initial three months of 2017, there was a 70% increase in tourist arrivals in Copenhagen as compared to 2010 marking a steady 4.8 increase every year.
Over the period, the number of overnight hotel stays almost doubled from 1 million in the year 2010 to 1.8 million in 2017.
This would be marking an 80% rise compared to just 32% rise in the summer months.
Mikkel Aarø-Hansen who is the chief executive of Wonderful Copenhagen attributed the rise to progress in winter tourism in this metropolitan area over many years. Aarø-Hansen also went on to add that Tivoli’s decision to open this February for a special three-week winter season would boost visitor numbers even more.
Tivoli that has recently invested 10 million kroner into new rides and a skating rink. It would be opening in February as part of its 175-year celebrations.
