As soon as two Italian tourists were tested positive in terms of coronavirus in Rajasthan, the state tourism department suffered a major jolt with travel sector getting large number of booking cancellations and the state tourism department declaring cancellation of Holi festival, a major attraction among foreign tourists here.
Coronavirus has engulfed the Golden Triangle circuit comprising Delhi, Agra and Jaipur with 16 tourists from Italy tested positive for the deadly virus.
The Rajasthan Tourism Minister, Mr. Vishvendra Singh while speaking to media explained that the department is in touch with Hotel Association of Jaipur and Federation Of Hospitality and Tourism in Rajasthan on a constant basis to keep an eye on the situation.
All district collectors and Superintendents of Police have been informed to adhere to the Central government advisory to make sure that the situation remains under control, he said.

Till now, how many bookings have been cancelled, he said, “Basically, it takes time to evaluate such details, but overall, on an average, 20-30 per cent of bookings have been cancelled,” he added.
In the meantime, Sanjay Kaushik, a Rajasthan based tour operator explained that his company has receiving cancellation requests in terms of bookings, both from group travelers as well as individuals.
Even though this is the end of the tourist season, the recent cancellations become a worrying trend, he said, adding that the government should take a cue from the Kerala model which was quick to check the spread of coronavirus by acting swiftly.
