Cruise ship gets damaged after crashing into port in Sicily

While docking in Sicily a cruise ship just crashed into a port and the incident took place at around 8.30 am yesterday.

 

 

It was reported that the ship got damaged on the portside stern and the footage revealed that there was damage to the liner above the waterline and damage to the dock in Palermo.

 

The ship retreated from the port after collision and later docked without any further problems. A passenger stated that they were currently on Grandiosa and the incident took place yesterday and the captain was not in a position to prevent the incident.

The cause of the incident was sudden gust of wind and all measures were taken to prevent a bigger incident.

 

Since the end of October the 331-metre-long MSC Grandiosa , one of the largest in the MSC fleet was been in service, it is currently in waters of Valletta, the capital of Malta.

It can accommodate more than  6,300 passengers along with 1,700 crew members and has 11 restaurants and 20 bars .

In Mexico two cruise ships crashed into each other earlier this month .

 

Damage was done to the stern of the Glory the moment the liner hit each other, Carnival mentioned that both ships were still seaworthy and minor injury was found.
