Cruise ship has rescued Cuban migrants from stranded water

Six Cuban migrants has been rescued by a cruise ship last week. The video captured shows the impromptu encounter with the Cuban migrants. One video shared on the internet shows a group of people being rescued from the waters. The clip shows passengers clapping and cheering as the migrants neared the ship.

Zingoni, a real estate agent from Orlando, Florida, was on the ship with her family and friends when they witnessed the event. Soon the migrants were welcomed on board the ship where they were given medical check-ups, food and clothes, and general assistance.

US Customs and Border Protection has stated that more than 175,000 Cubans arrived in the US from Mexico last year. In the same period, more than 4,500 Cubans intercepted at sea have been returned to Cuba, the Coast Guard said in a statement Tuesday.

Carnival Cruise Lines spokesman Matt Lupoli stated that when the boat reached Cozumel the rescued Cubans were turned over to Mexican officials. The dramatic rescue comes in US officials’ reports. The Cubans are migrating from the island due to economic instability and disruption.

Recently the cruise ship is helping a number of passengers to get on board. On June 4. Carnival Cruise ship Mardi Card has rescued 16 Cubans at a distance of 60 nautical miles from Key West , Florida.
