A double digit increase was registered in June for overnight tourism for the last three years and the first half of the year saw 17.1 per cent of cumulative increase. In June the cruise ship arrivals saw an increase of 57.2 per cent and at the end of the first half of the year there was an overall increase of 10.2 per cent in cruise visitors to Belize as compared to the first half of 2017.
In June 2018 the overnight tourist arrivals rose by 15 percent, it was observed that the overnight arrivals in June increased by at least ten per cent in each of the past three years. Over the past six years the arrivals in June and July was seen to approach the high season number of January and February.
There were 20 cruise ship calls amounting to more than 73,000 cruise passengers visiting Belize. This led to an increase of 57.2 percent having more than 26,000 more cruise visitors as compared to June 2017.
