Following the data published by a leading regional newspaper was collected by the Union of Cruise Ship Owners and Shipping Agents (EEKFN).
Based on the estimates of the latter, almost 4.42 million cruise ship passengers would have visited Greece in 2017. The figure for 2016 was 5.19 million. The slump is recorded at all the main cruise vessel destinations in the nation.
For instance, Piraeus, this year has been forecast to welcome one million cruise ship passengers, slightly down from 1.09 million in the year 2016.
This year, the iconic Santorini that represents the spectacular backdrop for cruise vessels is expected to welcome only 600,000 cruise ship arrivals, down from 722,000 in 2016.
