Mario Garcia, coming from Mexico, saw his dream come true when he traveled to Cuba with his family.
The 48-year-old Garcia with his wife and two daughters is planning to visit the seaside resort of Varadero in the days to come.
Melanie Robinson from the US loves to take a stroll around Havana’s Old Quarter, and capture photos of old buildings, sipping Cuban mojito and relishing presentations of musicians and dancers in the streets.
Robinson said that she visited Cuba for the jazz festival and decided to stay longer. She is staying in a rented apartment and is not eager to move outside Havana, since she feels at home there.
During the first month of this year, the Cuban tourism industry witnessed a huge upsurge in tourist arrivals.
Jose Luis Perello, a senior professor in university and a proficient in tourism said that Cuba welcomed around 246,000 foreign visitors in January. This is a surge from approximately 86,000 visitors all through the equivalent period last year.
As per the Cuban Tourism Ministry, up to 3.5 million visitors are expected to visit the island country all through the year.
Last year, Cuba witnessed more than 1.6 million tourists, dropping from the 2.5 million global visitors projected by the country’s government.
Prior to the pandemic, the island nation greeted greater than 4 million tourists every year.
