Authorities in Cyprus have made traveling to the east Mediterranean island nation stress-free with the onset of the summer tourist season by dismissing any COVID-19 test before boarding a flight or upon arrival.

As per new regulations, only unvaccinated people who haven’t contracted and recovered from the corona virus need to take a PCR test 72 hours before boarding a flight or a rapid test 24 hours before departure.

All Cyprus-bound passengers would no longer need to fill in a form — also known as a Cyprus Flight Pass — that provides information for locating them if they test positive during their stay.

Vaccinated and recovered passengers will need a valid European Union health certificate. Health certificates from third countries would be recognized if they’ve joined the EU’s COVID certificate system.

Tourism directly accounts for 13% of Cyprus’s economy. The authorities are eager to attract new markets to compensate for the significant loss of Russian and Ukrainian tourists due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
