Dakhla turns into a major tourist destination of Morocco

tourist destination of MoroccoAs per the figures published from the regional tourism delegation, in 2017, the total number of registered night were116,798, with an increase of 20 percent in comparison to 2016. The foreign tourists comprise the biggest share that spent a total 85,906 nights, as nationals spent around 30,892 nights respectively.

 
France ranks first by nationality, with 53,866 overnight stays, emphasizing an 8 percent growth, followed by the Spanish and Belgian markets, with 30 and 103 percent respectively. The Dutch market has seen a major modification in overnight stays statistics which increased from 397 to 1942 in last year.

 
Side by side, the region is contributing to the rising tourism, adding an 11 percent improvement for the tourism industry countrywide.

 
While attending a conference and highlighting the regional council and the North-South Action Association, Daïf Allah Endour, the Regional Director of Tourism explained that, in spite of its limited capacity at present with around 580 rooms, the region has seen a stable growth in tourist arrivals, adding that it plans accommodation capacity to double by 2020, particularly that it is draws more and more kitesurfers across the globe.

 
To quote Daïf, “We welcome a lot of tourists from Northern and Central Europe who come in big numbers to practice water sports.”

 
Once the French newspaper, Le Figaro explained that water sports make Dakhla, a “successful tourist destination,” which has turned not only “a paradise for surfers but also a destination for lovers of the desert.”
