District in-charge and Minister for Kannada, Culture and Power V. Sunil Kumar said that Dakshina Kannada district will get to witness unique development with special emphasis on agriculture, industry, tourism and culture.
Delivering the Republic Day message after unfurling the national flag in Mangalore, Mr. Kumar said that it was due to a strong Constitution, that the son of an ordinary school teacher like him became a Minister in the BJP-led State Government.
He said that development works will be carried on under agriculture-friendly, industry-friendly, tourism-friendly and cultural-friendly schemes.
The Minister said that with continuous expansion of arecanut, coconut and paddy growing areas, farmers are carrying on agriculture activities on more than 11,000 hectares of land. Steps will be taken to double their income. He said more than 1.54 lakh farmers have received benefits of more thanRs. 219 crore under the PradhanMantriKisanSamman Scheme, while children of 1,600 farmers received scholarships worth Rs. 4.2 crore under the Chief Minister’s RaithaVidyaNidhi Scheme.
