Delta Honors Martin Luther King Jr. With Systemwide Events

DeltaEvery year, Delta and its employees celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, honoring Dr. King’s legacy and celebrating the civil rights pioneer and Atlanta native who believed that how we serve others is one of the most important measures of one’s self and of society.


In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, which is observed on Jan. 16 this year, Delta is sponsoring several events across the system to celebrate the civil rights leader’s life and legacy.


Delta distributes pins to customers

On Monday, pins will be distributed by flight attendants to customers on domestic flights from Atlanta to several hub cities.

Pins will be also be distributed by Airport Customer Service leadership to customers at cities with a particular significance to the civil rights movement,  including Birmingham, Montgomery, Memphis and Washington, D.C. (DCA).


Delta people serve others

More than 250 Delta employees, and their friends and family members, will celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr., Day by volunteering their time to give back to those in need at the Hosea Helps annual dinner.

Delta is the exclusive sponsor of the event, which will provide an estimated 6,000 individuals with a full course meal and other traditional Hosea Helps services, including a haircut and style, clothing, shoes and blankets, medical care and more.

At last year’s event, more than 9,000 clients were served and 5,000 meals were delivered to homes for citizen seniors and other individuals that were unable to join the services at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
