Deputy commerce minister commends the tourism polices of Thailand

After the travel restrictions related to Covid-19 damaged the tourism economy of Thailand in a massive way all through the last 2 years, the deputy commerce minister of the country is commending the government for easing travel rules in 2022. Sinit Lertkrai, the deputy commerce minister, explained that the ease in recent travel policies played an instrumental role in Phuket in causing a boom in terms of new business registrations, as per a new report.


The Department of Business Development presented the latest report on this. It asserted that businesses in the four most popular tourist provinces in Thailand are based in South; in new business registrations, there was a 51.6% rise.

The tourism businesses like hotels, resorts, suites, restaurants, and spas have got registered which signify 1,216 new registrations in Phuket, Surat Thai, Krabi, and Phang Nga was made. The deputy commerce minister explained that all these provinces are “supported by government measures”. As Phuket has the most business registrations, 613, Surat Thani was the runner up, with 450 registrations. Krabi followed in 3d place, with Phang Nga coming in at number 4.
The report also asserted that in the first quarter of 2022, trade by restaurant businesses grew by 83% since 2021.

During the same time, hotel, resort, and condominium businesses grew up 169%. For spa, trade grew by 100%, and there was a 400% rise in trade for tour and travel reservation businesses as well.


However, the report did not include in the past 2 years the number of companies that have deregistered since the time Covid hit the world.
