Although foreign tourists have started arriving in the ‘Golden City’ of Jaisalmer, after two years and the tourism sector is getting better, the threat of Covid is still lingering, giving rise to worries among tourism entrepreneurs and hoteliers. In the last six days in Jaisalmer, 38 peoplehave tested positive for Covid-19.

The Rajasthan health department has started arrangements to tackle the situation. CMHO Dr. Kunal Sahu has asked all block CMOs to carry on undertakings to stop the spread of Covid-19 in their areas by implementing essential protection measures.

The CMOs have been directed to get specimens of fever patients and conduct a study in areas where there are Covid-19 patients.

With holidays in Europe, a lot of foreign tourists are coming down to Jaisalmer. Resorts in Sam and Khuhadi are operating anew. Hoteliers in respective areas have started arrangements for catering to visitors. Those involved in the tourism business are glad with the influx of tourists.

There were no tourists from abroad in the last two years. However, in the last two-three days, foreign tourists have started arriving, and this has given rise to hopes of a promising season this time. Nevertheless, if there are surges of Covid-19 cases, then the tourism industry in Rajasthan will be in danger.

Entrepreneur Mayank Kumar said that the tourism season in the state has is in full swing from July, which will endure till next February. He is confident that the influx of foreign visitors will carry on.
