Destination Mekong is all set recover tourism

Destination Mekong, an alliance of six countries, comprising the geographical Greater Mekong Subregion, is speeding up its executive team and planning to lead in the tourism recovery of the region, with the target to make the sector even better than what it was prior to the pandemic.


The tourism organization represents the Greater Mekong Subregion; its members consists of the official tourism organizations of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and the two Chinese provinces of Guangxi and Yunnan.


Taking the reopening of the tourism sector of several countries in play, the organization had created new designs that would help to rebuild the tourism of the region into a more sustainable way. It has signed the UN Climate Change Conference’s Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism as its first step, assuring to decrease 50 percent of its emissions in ten years and becoming net zero before 2050.


Also, Destination Mekong has published its Greater Mekong Subregion Tourism Recovery Communications Plan, “Unlimited Experiences, and Unlimited Stories”. It details future plans for advertising campaigns and other goals.
