Cycling is the most enjoyable way to explore Frankfurt. The city is crisscrossed with designated bike lanes. While ensuring safe social distance, visitors can explore the touristic highlights as well as the hidden treasures of the city.

Furthermore, along the Main River runs the city’s main cycling path, a scenic route, which is almost 600 kilometres. Therefore, a bike tour is fun and safe!

Several bike sharing schemes are available for easy access to a two-wheeler — among them the Deutsche Bahn’s Call a bike and NextBike.

Explore the main cycling route of Frankfurt that takes you through the best spots in the city!

This cycling route starts on the southern side of the river Main and connects the city’s key sights — Central Bank’s shiny new headquarters in the east end and the historic Old Town in the city centre. It has been carefully rebuilt over the last few decades, with the medieval city hall, Römer.

You are sure to pass through unique bars and restaurants, famous for Apple Wine and traditional German cuisines like Frankfurter sausages.

Next, The route takes you to Paulskirche. It is known for its rich history of being the place where the first democratic constitution for Germany was created. Today, the site hosts award presentations as well political and cultural events.

The famous market hall, Kleinmarkthalle is definitely worth a visit! This1,500-sq/m indoor market hall, is a culinary paradise beyond compare. Aside from the many regional specialities available, such as Frankfurt’s famous “Green Sauce”, visitors will also find a superb assortment of international delicacies, imported from the four corners of the Earth. Guests are also urged to try some of the delicious specialities on offer, freshly prepared on site.

After a gastronomical journey, cycle past the historic Frankfurt Stock Exchange – the world’s 10th largest stock exchange towards some greenery. Frankfurt’s main botanical gardens, Grüneburgpark and Palmentgarten are definitely worth a visit for some quiet time amidst the beautiful meadows. On the way back, marvel at some of the glittering glass skyscrapers like the Main Tower and Deutsche Bank.

There are many other cycling tours that one can explore which goes beyond the city centre.

Along with a bike, you can explore the many hidden sights along the south of the river, through the Frankfurt city forest, to Kelsterbach and back via the cycle path following the river Main. These off- beat trails are paved on car free zones which makes it a safe and a beautiful experience!
