Discover new places for eco-tourism, says Bihar CM

On Wednesday, Bihar Chief minister, Mr. Nitish Kumar has requested the environment, forest and climate change department to shortlist new places over the current ones and expand those new places as centres of eco-tourism. The CM said that the eco-tourism destinations not only encourage and boost the tourist inflow but help in increasing the income of the locals as well by developing of new work opportunities for them.


During a high-level review meeting of the department, the state CM issued the following directives. The meeting was held here on Wednesday. In the meeting, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the Deputy CM, Vijay Kumar Choudhary, finance minister and Tej Pratap Yadav, environment, forest and climate change minister, along with other senior officials of the state were present.


The CM explained that the new places should be set up for eco-tourism by adhering to the local ecological balance. Also, he asked them to make sure of road maintenance. He asked the department to work on making a body for eco-tourism management and maintenance, in tune with the same.


Rajgir and Valmikinagar have come up as attractive destinations for eco-tourism in the current day scenario, and the CM said that more of such places had to be developed, adding that he himself had visited both Rajgir and Valmikinagar.


The CM showed his approval that the green coverage of the state has been increased to 15 per cent of the state’s area.
