Lately, Visit Hull and East Yorkshire identified its tourism stars at the 9th annual tourism awards.
The important event took place at DoubleTree, Hull city centre’s first branded four star hotel of Hilton which was inaugurated just few months back.
Before organized at Bridlington Spa and KCOM Stadium, the Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTAs) are an annual celebration of Hull and East Yorkshire’s tourism industry; identifying the business quality, individuals and the effort they put into the area’s visitor economy.
Almost 550 guests took part at the impressive event in the DoubleTree’s ballroom which is one of the unique largest spaces in East Yorkshire. The event was co-hosted by BBC Radio Humberside presenter, Blair Jacobs, along with Kofi Smiles who reported on the UK City of Culture events for the BBC all year.
Winners of 14 categories were declared at the evening along with many expensive funds being raised in terms of local charity, the Smile Foundation, which supports families and groups.
During the evening, there were many winners including the Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel, winning the Remarkable Business Tourism category. Second time consecutively the hotel has won in this category following its initial win in 2015. Andy Gray, Tourism Manager, Visit Hull and East Yorkshire said “2017 has been an amazing year for us with UK City of Culture status putting Hull and East Yorkshire on the national and international visitor map. The opening of the new DoubleTree by Hilton gave us the opportunity to host our awards in Hull city centre for the first time and it was the perfect choice for our flagship event of the year. The DoubleTree is a real asset to our ever growing portfolio of venues and we look forward to working with the team in the months and years to come.”
