On Tuesday, the Minister for Fisheries, Ports and Inland Transport, Udipi, S. Angara, explained that a draft of Vision Plan 2021-31 is at present being developed for the integrated development of tourism spots in Udupi district. This will be submitted to the government for approval later on.
In Udupi, during his Republic Day speech the Minister said that the blue print of the vision plan will have the projects to be taken up in the district in the coming ten years for tourism sector’s growth and development. In Udupi, the district administration has recognized 104 tourism spots.
Mr. Angara stated that the State government has in its tourism policy for 2021-25. It has identified Udupi district as a priority tourism district and it will assist the district administration to advertise the sector.
For the integrated development of the coastal area, the Minister mentioned that the government has released ₹ 5 crore, between Trasi and Maravanthe. Besides, ₹ 2 crore has been released for Parashurama Theme Park development in Karkala taluk.
In the current financial year, the government has given permission to set up five new home stays. Also, it has permitted four boat houses to promote tourism.
The government has sanctioned ₹ 2.54 crore for building 24 classrooms in 19 government schools. Of this amount, ₹ 63.60 lakh has been released.
At a cost of ₹ 1 crore, the Bhujanga Park in Udupi is being set up. The Minister explained that last Saturday, 4,816 health professionals/workers have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the district till.
In all, in the first phase, 22,103 health professionals/workers from both government and private sectors have been identified for vaccination.
The district has received 23,900 vials of vaccination for the first phase.
