Dubai has increased its efforts to reinforce the position of the emirate as a leading cruise hub of the this part of the world and lure more cruise travellers, particularly from Europe and India as per a fresh media report.
The number of Indian tourists to Dubai has surpassed the one million mark for the very first time over a six-month period between January and June 2017.
It has in fact registered a rise of nearly 21% over the same period last year according to the official figures. The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing exhibited at Seatrade Europe conducted in Hamburg under the banner of Cruise Arabia brings together the tourism authorities of Dubai, Bahrain and Abu Dhabi with a goal of promoting the region as a whole improving the corporate sustainability and development.
Jamal Humaid Al Falasi who is the Director of Dubai Cruise Tourism mentioned that their participation at Seatrade Europe comes at the opportune time when cruise lines conventionally hold their discussions with destinations and service providers to plan for the subsequent seasons.
The latest promotional drive of Dubai Tourism was aimed to attract a larger number of cruise tourists especially from India and Europe as per one of the official news agency of the region.
Seatrade Europe is the world’s pioneer biennial event for cruise tourism that permits industry professionals, government and private sector organizations and also companies to portray their destination offerings and also discuss mutual cooperation and processes of promoting their respective cruise tourism industries, according to this report.
Dubai Tourism’s participation at Seatrade Europe comes after a series of roadshows hosted in July that had stopped in five Indian cities including Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Pune and Mumbai.
The events offered delegation members a chance to network with essential Indian travel trade partners and also media in collaboration with MSC Cruises, Costa Cruises and Royal Caribbean Cruises.
Dubai has emerged as a significant cruise destination in this part of the world with more than 625,000 cruise travellers arriving in the city during the 2016 to 2017 season that portrays a rise of over 15% when compared to the 2015 to 2016 season.
The UAE has extended visas-on-arrival to Indian nationals who possess a Green Card or a valid American visa to motivate more Indian tourists to visit the emirate.
