Dubai International Airport witnesses 127% rise in visitors

Last year, Dubai International Airport, grabbed the top spot in the world as the best airport when it comes to international passengers pouring in with a 127% rise in 2021 to 29.1 million passengers to 66 million passengers last year.


Dubai in 2022 was positioned first among top tourist destinations, as per tourism indicators, Dubai Customs’ Consultative Council meeting heard.


In 2022, a total of 174,000 new investors have invested their money into businesses. Roughly, 88,000 new companies were set up. In business and investment, this shows a huge growth and development. The DCCC meeting noted the above mentioned.


In terms of numbers regarding small and medium enterprises, there are around 400,000. It contributed about 60% of the non-oil economy, providing 86% employment rate in the private sector. SMEs comprise 73% of the trade and 16% of the services sector in UAE and contribute to 30% of the gross domestic product.


UAE’s productivity in retail sector reaches almost AED100 billion or 27% of the GDP in total. In Dubai, the retail workforce comprises 21% and the sector draws 20% of total investments.


The Director General of Dubai Customs and CEO of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, is positive about the financial and commercial growth of the sector in Dubai in 2023.


The strong levels of the first quarter shows a constant of last year’s financial momentum, where Dubai Customs finished enormous 26 million customs transactions.
