Dubai Sustainable is making the use of sustainable practices all over the desert city with an intention to mark the 50th World Environment Day. The organization is all set to further improve the position of Dubai as an important sustainable destination of the world.
DET starting right from sustainable restaurateurs and eco-hotels, desert conservation reserves, to cultural pursuits and eco-tourism attractions, DET is closely examining around 50 of the ground-breaking efforts of Dubai related to environmental conservation and sustainability all over tourism ecosystem on World Environment Day 2022. It was developed by the United Nations Environment Programme, as “a global platform for inspiring positive change”.
The exclusive ecosystem of Dubai has made for generations of sustainable conservations and an amazing relationship with nature. In Dubai we get to see Bedouin practices, safaris and nature reserves, this city had a pleasant connection with its surroundings for long. In the DNA of Dubai, environmental protection and landscape is deeply embedded and is something that continues to be celebrated generation after generation.
One of the most talked about is the ‘Dubai Can’ initiative:
The Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, introduced ‘Dubai Can’. It’s a citywide sustainability effort that would turn the tide on plastic and motivate people to take action and reduce the use of plastic bottles actively. At present in Dubai, there are 40 free drinking water fountains placed all over in the city.
