Dubai reopens its borders successfully

In a recent webinar arranged by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, they showed their point of view.


Trust in Tourism 4.0 – webinar title: How Dubai Adapted to Welcome You Back, was hosted by Dubai Chamber’s representative offices in Latin America. More than 470 people took part in the webinar, comprising UAE business leaders and many Latin American countries like Brazil, Paraguay, Colombia, Argentina, and Guatemala.


The webinar featured informative presentations from: Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation of Tourism and Commerce Marketing; Omar Khan, Director of International Offices, Dubai Chamber; Khalifa Al Qama, Head of Dubai Future Labs, Dubai Future Foundation; Stephane Perard, Managing Director- Brazil, Emirates; Ricardo Fracalossi, Sales Manager- Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, Emirates; Marc Descrozaille, COO – India, Middle East & Africa, Accor; and Adriano Konialidis, Director – International Participants Expo 2020 Dubai.


Presentations assessed the adoption of pro-active policies in Dubai, advanced technologies and preventative measures to stop virus spread, pandemic created navigate new challenges and restart business activities earlier this year, comprising specific procedures executed with the aviation and hospitality sectors.


Formally reopening its borders to foreign tourists in July 2020, Dubai was identified by the World Travel and Tourism Council, WTTC, as a safe destination. They’ve issued a Safe Travels stamp as well, validating the strict hygiene and safety rules in place across the city.


Issam Kazim mentioned many factors that ensured successful reopening of Dubai, comprising the proactive approach of the Dubai government to ensuring citizen’s health and safety, residents and tourists, which included a comprehensive city-wide sanitation programme, close cooperation with the private sector and wider society.


Kazim emphasized the New Dubai Assured Programme. It’s a government issued award stamp for business meeting high safety standards, as the right tool in this regard, mentioning that Dubai Tourism maintained communication within all the main source markets all through the year, keeping stakeholders aware of all the latest developments as the emirates restarted business events and meetings.


For his part, Omar Khan observed that Dubai kept its promise in welcoming foreign tourists, and provided participants with insights on the way emirate’s business landscape has changed in the new normal. He has disclosed that a number of business and leisure events have by now hosted in Dubai, and said the return of GITEX Technology Week, the region’s largest technology exhibition, is a positive development signaling a recovery on the horizon.
