Dubai’s winning tourism recovery is continuing to encourage global tourism revival. The city welcomed 6.17 million international overnight visitors during the period of January to May this year. This is a 197 per cent year-on-year (YoY) boost compared to the same period in 2021, when the city witnessed only over two million international visitors.

This is the newest tourism statistics revealed by Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) at its first ‘City Briefing’ for this year, which is a bi-annual event providing a thorough industry view to stakeholders and partners. It discusses future plans to further strengthen Dubai’s situation as a global center for business, talent, tourism and investment. The event witnessed an attendance of more than 1,200 important executives from around the tourism network together with aviation, hospitality, travel and retail segments.

His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, the Director General of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) said that the extraordinary visualization and management of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Vice President and the Prime Minister of the UAE and the monarch of Dubai, have constantly remained at the forefront as an inspiration for all, and this is evident in the city’s sustained achievement, since it focuses on increasing its position as an international hub for wealth and tourism.

The city is working toward realizing its grand goal of making itself the most sought after and visited destination and the city of the future!
