East Japan Railway will install safety doors within 15 years

East Japan RailwayThe East Japan Railway Company is set to install the safety doors on the platforms of all its stations in and around Tokyo within 15 years.

 

 

All other 243 stations on 24 major commuter lines are serving in and around will have the safety doors by March of 2033. The total construction cost of these safety doors is estimated at about 4.7 billion dollars.

 

East Japan Railway President Tetsuro Tomita told that this move is aimed at preventing people from accidentally falling on railway tracks. The company says installing the doors will also help reduce train delays. East Japan Railway currently has safety doors at 31 stations on its commuter lines.

 

 

This railway company has announced the plans to increase the number of stations with safety doors to more than 50 commuting lines before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
