Flybe franchise partner Eastern Airways has made the alteration on the route between Aberdeen International Airport (AIA) and Stornoway offering four extra flights every weekend and two new Sunday flights.
This change is expected to come into effect this week that would imply people can go on a day trip from the city to the Isle of Lewis. It also implies people residing on the island would be having more options to travel to AIA en route to other UK cities for onward connections.
Mathew Herzberg who is the head of Eastern Airways said that they had witnessed a rise in passenger numbers on the route and paid attention to the feedback.
He feels that the time is now appropriate to rise to double daily offering day return options and the launching of a new Sunday service to help increase leisure opportunities to the Western Isles.
The additional frequency also implies that Stornoway passengers would have improved access to the various Flybe flights including Birmingham, Manchester and Heathrow via Aberdeen.
