Easy tourist visa policy to boost tourism in Sri Lanka

sri lankaThe Sri Lankan government announced plans of easing the air traffic system that will include visa for tourists in order to boosts the island’s tourism industry.

 

 

Ranil Wickremesinghe, Sri Lankan Prime Minister during the Hotel Show Colombo 2018 in Colombo mentioned that easing visa requirements for tourists was an important decision for the development of tourism in the island and it was much needed to streamline the basic requirements of entry.

 

 

 

He further stressed on the importance of  increasing the tourist inflow which will help in creating more revenue and improve people’s income .

 

 

Tourism is one of the job creators and meant the future for Sri Lankan employment and its youth.After a 30-year civil conflict the Sri Lankan tourism sector was heavily marred but at present it is one of the leading industries after being tagged as the world’s greatest tourism hot spots.

 

 

Tourism arrivals saw a recorded growth of 15.3 percent in the first half of 2018 as compared to the same period last year according to the Tourism Ministry data.

 

 

The largest growing markets were India, China and Britain.

 

 

John Amaratunga, the tourism minister of Sri Lanka said that the government intended to generate revenue of 4.4 billion U.S. dollars though the tourism industry in 2018.
