A Tehran-bound air airplane of Mahan Air that is an Iranian air carrier landed at the international airport here in emergency conditions prompted by a sudden engine failure as per an airport official.
The aircraft A340-300 had taken off from the Indira Gandhi International Airport here. However the aircraft was compelled to return again, soon.
The official has mentioned that around 1650 hours, ATC had declared a full emergency for Mahan Air flight W5-070, aircraft type A340-300 on account of an engine failure.
This flight had departed from the national capital for Tehran around 1627 hours and returned on full emergency.
Thereafter the flight landed safely on the runway at 1713 hours, according to the official. Details about the number of passengers onboard could not be ascertained immediately.
The airline, however could not be contacted.
Mahan Air is a private air carrier that is based in Tehran located in the country of Iran.
