Etihad Airways flight diverted to Mumbai as woman delivers baby mid-air

1348481-1617445779An Etihad Airways flight bound to Jakarta from Abu Dhabi was diverted mid-air due to a medical emergency. An Indonesian woman delivered a baby on board prompting the flight’s diversion to Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

On landing at Mumbai airport the woman was rushed to the Seven Hills Hospital in Andheri East and is now recuperating with her newborn baby.An Etihad Airways spokesperson said in a statement, "Today's Etihad Airways flight EY474 from Abu Dhabi (AUH) to Jakarta (CGK) diverted to Mumbai (BOM) in India due to a medical emergency on board.”

The diversion caused a 2 hour delay against its scheduled arrival of 3.05 pm at Jakarta. “We regret any inconvenience caused. The safety of our guests and crew is Etihad Airways' highest priority," the statement added.
