Etihad Airways has introduced a brand new programme for its passengers flying with the airline, titled ‘Etihad Wellness’. The initiative has been introduced as a health and hygiene protocol and has also presented the industry’s first-ever Wellness Ambassadors to reassure travelers of the airline’s health and safety measures.

The wellness ambassadors will be at the forefront of the airline’s programme and will be ready to help and support the passengers in every possible way. The ambassadors are the first of its kind in the aviation industry and will be focused on providing specific assistance to customers on the carrier’s health and sanitisation measures. The airline has also officially announced that ambassadors will undergo special training at the airline’s training facilities in Abu Dhabi, as well as online.

These ambassadors will also be stationed at the Abu Dhabi International Airport to passengers at all points in their journey. They will cover retail, lounges, boarding, and immigration areas. Etihad has planned to place these ambassadors in flights to work alongside cabin crew once travel restrictions are eased. Travellers who frequently fly with Etihad will come across the ambassadors very often. In addition, the airline will also introduce various standards of cleanliness to improve its catering facilities and food testing labs. All upcoming measures will be built based on the guidelines that have already been established since the COVID-19 outbreak.

The airline has also decided to deep-clean all onboard cabins. It will also regularly sanitise other pitstops along the customer journey including sites like check-in, inflight experience, arrival, and ground transportation areas. Tony Douglas, Group Chief Executive Officer of Etihad mentioned in a press statement that the wide-ranging measures undertaken by the company are a strong reflection of the measures already established across the emirate of Abu Dhabi. He mentioned that travellers who will fly with the airline once travel restrictions are completely lifted can be assured that their trip will be to one of the cleanest and most well-maintained destinations in the world.

The airline strongly believes that safeguarding the interests of customers will be the key to enable people to fly once again. Therefore, it has also introduced various online avenues to keep customers updated on the latest wellness programme. The airline has also undertaken several humanitarian efforts amid the coronavirus pandemic. It prepared meals for thousands of frontline COVID-19 workers in Abu Dhabi back during April. Etihad’s catering arm also provided food to other businesses and community centers affected by the pandemic. The airline has also arranged rescue flights to 11destinations and cargo flights to 29 venues so far.
