Etihad Airways introducing extra-legroom seats on Airbus A380 economy class

Etihad Airways will retrofit its ten Airbus A380s with the new seats providing increased pitch of up to 36 inches by Dec. 2018.



Post-redesigning the number of extra legroom seats in economy will rise from 20 to 80 on Airbus A380.



Jamal Ahmed Al Awadhi, Etihad Airways head of guest experience, said that he realised that no two travellers are alike, and customers demand more choice and personalisation during their travels.



There is lot of demand for extra legroom seats. Given their popularity Economy cabin has been reconfigured to provide greater travel experience.



Other than A380s, Etihad Airways will add additional economy space seats to 12 Boeing 777s and 21 Boeing 787 Dreamliners by the end of 2019. This will lead to the increase of total number of extra legroom seats by 560 per cent.



Extra available room is beneficial for elderly travellers, passengers requiring wheelchair assistance or small children.



Many airlines are adding more seats in the economy class by squeezing space; Etihad Airways is adding extra legroom to the economy space. It will meet and exceed the demands and budgets of different types of travellers.
