According to a recent poll by IBTM World as part of its Culture Creators Report 2023, event professionals are confronting previously unheard-of obstacles in the rapidly changing world of remote work. There is a lot of pressure on the sector, as 87% of respondents highlighted how important events are in the current remote working environment.

Meeting in person is acknowledged as being essential to fostering connections, improving team dynamics, and raising spirits in the physically divided workplace of today. Nonetheless, event professionals have suffered as a result of the five-fold increase in remote work since the pandemic, with 79% of them acknowledging that their jobs are now more stressful than they were previously.

IBTM World’s marketing manager, Nick Nagle, draws attention to the industry’s battle with the recent burnout pandemic, which is a result of growing obligations in the face of fresh difficulties. According to the research, event organizing is currently the third most demanding job in the world.

A startling 90% of event professionals claim that their compensation has not changed, despite mounting pressure and a 25% rise in remote work in just three years. This raises worries about challenges with recruitment and retention. This is concerning since, according to American Psychological Association studies, half of underappreciated workers may look for new positions within a year.

Forbes Vice President of Programming and Events Jessica Charles worries that her job’s demands are causing her to lose talent. This is especially important since that events are becoming more and more important for building team dynamics and improving output.

Despite these difficulties, 64% of event professionals would still suggest the field to others, demonstrating their ardor for it. But the industry must respond to the mounting pressure by providing greater assistance. The ‘ReFuel’ zone at IBTM’s 2023 event offers participants a place to unwind and mentally refresh, emphasizing the value of appreciating and bolstering the dedication of event professionals in these taxing times.
