ITB Berlin 2023

ITB Berlin 2023 takes place as a pure B2B event under the slogan ‘Open for Change’ from today. Since 1966, ITB Berlin has been the leading travel trade show.

On Monday, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili addressed viewers at the opening of ITB Berlin, a major international tourism fair where Georgia is the Host Country. Garibashvili proudly announced that the nation’s residents are “directing all their efforts to the goal of becoming hosts in Europe.” He went on to explain that the Georgian government and people are working tirelessly to become a fully-fledged member of the European Union.

Garibashvili also shared that the Council of the European Union has recognized Georgia’s European perspective in its decision on the country’s application to join the EU. This brings Georgia “closer than ever to [the realization of] our civilizational opportunity [of joining the bloc].”

The Prime Minister emphasized that every Georgian is working towards the day when Georgia will secure its place on the map of Europe. He expressed pride in Georgia’s history, culture, past, and modernity, and looks forward to the day when they can proudly say they are hosts in Europe.

Garibashvili also took the opportunity to thank the German Government, Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck, Berlin Mayor Franziska Giffey, and organizers of the fair for their invitation to the show. He noted the “unprecedented dynamics” of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Overall, Garibashvili’s speech was a powerful statement of Georgia’s commitment to becoming a member of the European Union and a proud host in Europe.
