Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Kenya comprising Fairmont The Norfolk, Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club and Fairmont Mara Safari Club scooped 3 accolades at this year’s World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony, hosted in the city of Kigali, Rwanda.
Celebrating its 24th anniversary, the World Travel Awards are acknowledged across the globe as the ultimate travel accolade. The brand aims to celebrate those organisations who push the boundaries of industry excellence. At the prestigious event in Rwanda Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club won Africa’s Leading Hotel 2017, retaining the crown from 2016, Fairmont The Norfolk was bestowed Kenya’s Leading Hotel 2017 and Fairmont Mara Safari Club was awarded Kenya’s Leading Tented Safari Camp 2017.
The ceremony was attended by hospitality leaders and senior executives from major travel companies, operators and destinations from across the region. World Travel Awards Founder and President, Graham E Cooke, said of the awards: “We have recognised the leading lights of African tourism and I wish to offer my heartfelt congratulations to all of our winners.”
Winners from the event will go forward to complete in the World Travel Awards Grand Final, this year taking place at the JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa in Vietnam on the evening of 10th December.
The travel industry’s leading awards programme also unveiled the host of the 2018 World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony as the Durban International Convention Centre. Conveniently situated in the heart of South Africa’s third largest city.
