Senior delegates of India’s top Hospitality Association – Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), met with Union Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel and the Minister of MSME Nitin Gadkari, for discussing the worsening state of the hospitality and tourism industry and for suggesting immediate economic measures to save it from looming collapse.
The association submitted representations and advised key policy changes for the revitalization of the sector. The FHRAI was represented by Gurbaxish Singh Kohli, Pradeep Shetty, D V S Somaraju and Narendra Somany. The delegates explained the ministers regarding the depressing state of the tourism and hospitality industry due to subsequent lockdowns.
The association representatives also submitted the representation to Arvind Singh, the Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Rakesh Kumar Verma, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism. The association also held a virtual meeting with the Principal Economic Advisor, Ministry of Finance Sanjeev Sanyal with recommendations concerning the hospitality sector.
The Tourism Ministry understood the industry’s concerns and assured that all assistance will be extended for supporting the hospitality industry.
The association thanked Prahlad Patel, Nitin Gadkari, Sanyal, Singh, Verma for their valuable time and for being sympathetic about the industry’s concerns.
