Industry body Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has written to the home ministry and urged the government to recommence flight travel, metro services and tourism. FICCI added that targeted marketing campaigns need to be taken up by the states for communicating safety measures like wearing masks, thermal checkups and restriction on people at a particular spot.
The tourism industry has already witnessed loss of 20-30 million jobs, and hence, needs assistance. The chairman of tourism council of ASSOCHAM Subhash Goyal said that the mandatory quarantine period for inter-state travel is turning out to be challenging.
“Tourism will take some time to kick start as long as the quarantine protocols are in place. I am hopeful that if the quarantine problem is removed, the industry should start limping back to normalcy,” said Mr. Goyal.
The Unlock 2.0 period is coming to an end on July 31 and the government has already listed guidelines for Unlock 3.0, under which night curfew would be lifted and private gyms and yoga centers would been allowed to open.
