The Finland tourism board has launched a new virtual campaign, namely, “Rent a Finn” with the aim of introducing the Finnish ways of living to viewers who are currently quarantining by staying at home. The campaign has been revived following the United Nations World Happiness 2020 that declared Finland as the happiest country in the world for the third year in a row.
Finland’s tourism board looks forward to making the world as content as the country’s people. The digital campaign highlights the reasons behind the tourism board’s wish as well as explains others how to attain the same. Paavo Virkkunen, Executive Director, Visit Finland at Business Finland said in a press statement that tourism authorities in the country aim to provide people the opportunity to learn about the secrets of Finnish happiness during the unprecedented times all across the world.
He mentioned that the initiative also offers the chance to connect one-to-one with Finnish individuals right from the comfort of one’s own home. The online campaign was initially introduced last year and had a similar concept. Around 10 Finn ambassadors were paired with travelers selected through an application process back during April 2019. The application has now evolved further and will now allow participants of Finn heritage to connect with a much larger audience through their screen especially due to the global impact of coronavirus outbreak.
Considered to be a part of the tourism board’s social media initiative, the 2020 campaign will consist of two subjects, a live stream series, and a virtual happiness guide. The live stream series will showcase five different areas of Finnish lifestyle in the form of “how-to” lessons. It would include sessions such as “Eat with a Finn,” “Relax with a Finn” or “Be Active with a Finn.” The series is set to begin on Friday, May 15, and would be available through the Finland tourism association’s social media channels. It will also be followed by an afterward discussion session.
Meanwhile, the Virtual Happiness Guide will introduce each topic that one is specialized in through their daily work and life. People with expertise in travel and outdoor activities would conduct the guide and help people find their happiness skills through certain activities. In addition, the public can also apply for exclusive one-to-one free sessions with a Virtual Happiness Guide. Selected guides will be available for individual 15 minutes meetings via video conferencing. Applications for booking preferred topic, slot, and Virtual Happiness Guide have already opened and will remain available through June 22.
